Air to water heat pumps
The Valliant geoTHERM air air to water heat pump (AWHP) system is suitable for a wide range of applications, in new build and refurbishment properties. All AWHPs have high energy efficiency ratings and utilise minimal ozone depleting potential (ODP) refrigerants. Due to its high energy efficiency, it is more environmentally friendly than many conventional heating systems.
All geoTHERM air heat pumps are equipped with a self-diagnostic tool and intelligent control for optimisation of the heat pump. The geoTHERM air benefits from our Piharmonic function, making it one of the quietest heat pumps on the market. It also comes as a complete and compact outdoor unit with a sealed refrigerant circuit, that means no refrigerant handling is required. Air Source Heat Pumps use energy stored in the air and convert this to heat for space heating and hot water production. Low temperature energy from the air is passed through a CFC free refrigerant cycle, which converts this energy to higher temperatures for use inside the home.
1. Heat withdrawn from the air is transferred to the refrigerant. The refrigerant absorbs the heat and changes from liquid to gas.
2. The gaseous refrigerant is then passed through a compressor. As the gas is compressed, its temperature increases further.
3. The heat from the refigerant is now directly transferred to the heating circuit. It cools down and returns to a liquid form.
4. In the expansion valve, the refrigerant is then decompressed and cools down further so that it will be able to re-absorb heat from the air.
